Château de la Mézière

LUNAY

About

A family home since 1893, the 16th-century château was built on a Gallo-Roman villa from which it takes the name of Mézière. The little chapel, the sculpted porch, the slate-inlaid chimney pins like those at Chambord and the lovely Renaissance gallery give this residence a royal charm that was not lost on the King of Navarre, among others: the festivities for his wedding to Jeanne d'Albret were held here. Free self visit of the outsides.

Also: guided visit for groups only, inquire.
