The Château de Troussay, still inhabited, was built at the end of the 15th century. The Loire Valley historian and archaeologist, Louis de Saussaye, inherited it in 1828. A friend of Prosper Mérimée and, like him, a precursor of heritage conservation, he incorporated precious elements of old decor from prestigious regional monuments that had been abandoned. A beautiful 16th, 17th and 18th century furniture completes the ensemble. The English-style park is adorned with age-old trees of various species. The picturesque outbuildings house a Sologne museum, evoking "La Closerie de Raboliot", the legendary poacher.
